TAED Environmental Profile

TAED is a key ingredient that allows laundry detergents to operate effectively at lower temperatures, which means less energy usage and less carbon emissions.

Simply by washing at 30°C instead of 40°C saves over 40% of a washing machine’s energy consumption.

Importantly, TAED saves energy without causing pollution or health hazards. In 2002, the makers of household cleaning products (A.I.S.E) and the TAED suppliers, published a Human and Environmental Risk Assessment (HERA) on TAED. The report showed that TAED is readily biodegradable and non-toxic, causing no harm to either human health or the environment.

TAED, as a high volume chemical, also falls into the first phase of the new European chemical legislation on chemicals - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances (REACH). An in depth dossier of information covering the human health and environmental impact of TAED has been compiled and submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) ahead of the 1st December, 2010 deadline. The studies again confirm TAED as a safe, environmentally friendly chemical.
